Thank you for another successful NPH 5K

May 17, 2022

We are thrilled that many team members, clients, family, friends were able to attend NPH USA’s 16th annual Upper Midwest fundraiser in person this year. Nearly 30 people connected with LWP participated in the 5K by walking, running, or donating. The event was in person in Edina this year for the first time since 2019, but there was also an option to participate from anywhere.

Proceeds from this year’s fundraiser support recreational activities for the nearly 8,000 children NPH supports in nine countries. This includes sports uniforms, art therapy supplies, library books, computers, dance and theater workshops, life skills training, and more.

LWP’s sponsorship and the participation and donations of our clients and friends helped NPH raise nearly $24,000. NPH is still accepting donations, aiming for a total of $30,000.

Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) means “Our Little Brothers and Sisters” in Spanish. NPH USA transforms the lives of vulnerable children in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru.

Laura and Tom Kuntz have seen the difference NPH makes over their 30 years as sponsors. Manuel, who they sponsored when he was a child, came to NPH at age 14. he had a limp because of a dog bite at age 6 and was behind several years in school. NPH immediately fixed his limp and helped him catch up in school. He became a top scholar, graduated from university, and now dances professionally when it fits his work schedule.

“One of the joys of my life has been working with NPH USA,” Laura said. “We have visited the NPH homes many times, and believe me, they make a HUGE difference for the most vulnerable children.”
