Even better? The firm walks the talk.
For over 25 years, LWP has been involved with Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH), a charitable-giving organization that transforms the lives of the most vulnerable children and young adults in the Latinx community.
The following video shares more about the passion CIO Laura Kuntz (as well as her family) has for this special organization.
Continue reading for further exploration of how Laura’s commitment to NPH consistently informs Laurel Wealth Planning’s wealth management approach.
How LWP Got Started With NPH
Years ago, LWP’s CIO Laura Kuntz was an exchange student in Mexico. Even at a young age, she was struck by the amount of poverty and homelessness in the area. She read about an organization that was committed to helping, but as a college student, she wasn’t in a position to donate.
Fast-forward to Laura’s early thirties. She read an article about NPH and knew right away it was the same organization she’d learned about in college. Laura called them immediately, and she and her husband, Tom, became ongoing sponsors of children in need.
Over time, Laura and Tom have sponsored several children, many of whom are now thriving adults. By keeping in touch, Laura and Tom are able to witness the positive impact of their sponsorships.
Laura and Tom’s continued support of NPH hasn’t gone unnoticed. This year they were the deserving recipients of the Corazón Award.
The Corazón Award honors extraordinary individuals and organizations who have made remarkable strides in fostering empowerment and education within the Latinx community. These awards symbolize a commitment to recognizing those who have ignited positive change and brought forth a brighter future for young Latinas and their mothers.
Put simply, the award is given to those who have given their heart to the mission of NPH.
How LWP’s Charitable Giving Informs Their Financial Advising
Have you ever heard the saying “Experience is the best teacher”?
It’s absolutely true and especially pertinent to LWP’s charitable-giving experience and their ability to provide firsthand financial advice to their clients.
LWP advisors accomplish this synergy by asking their clients pertinent questions like “What do you want your wealth to accomplish long-term?” and “What kind of legacy do you want to leave beyond just accumulating wealth?”
The firm’s own charitable-giving experience helps them ask the right questions; and the answers allow their financial advisors to guide clients toward aligning their values with their philanthropy.
This approach gives clients the flexibility to do with their wealth what matters most to them. It could be helping a family member or friend or giving to a charitable organization close to their heart.
Passion Drives LWP’s Continued Charitable Giving
Not only is their financial advising strategy shaped by their passion for giving, but the firm’s culture is also directly linked to their commitment to philanthropy. Every year, LWP chooses a different charity based on world events and highlights that charity in their annual newsletter.
This year, in response to the world’s growing war-torn areas, they decided to give support to UNICEF. In a previous year, one of their team member’s relatives was suffering from cancer, so they chose to support a charity that fights cancer. They also support an organization called Kiva that provides microloans to help underserved communities thrive both in the United States and around the world.
Partner With a Professional
Beyond their charitable-giving efforts, LWP’s main priority is to put their clients first. That means giving sound, objective financial advice.
Their goal is to help their clients reach their goals.
