Group donation promotes financial planning industry diversity

August 11, 2020

As part of the Goddesses of Financial Planning group, Laura Kuntz has made a donation that will help promote diversity in the financial planning industry.

The Goddesses of Financial Planning, founded in 1995, is a group of women financial advisory firm owners in Minnesota that meets regularly to share strategic advice and best practices to support each other. In honor of the group’s 25th anniversary, it has donated $25,000 to the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standard’s Center for Financial Planning.

About 23% of certified financial planners in the U.S. are women and less than 3.5% are Black or Latino, the Certified Financial Planner Board found in a 2018 survey. The Center for Financial Planning is working to create a more diverse and sustainable financial planning profession.

“I am honored to support the Center for Financial Planning, which is making meaningful progress toward bringing more women and people of color into our industry,” Kuntz said. “A more diverse financial planning workforce will help provide the competent, ethical financial planning advice that so many Americans need.”
