NPH USA’s 15th annual Upper Midwest fundraiser was another great experience. There’s nothing like getting outside in beautiful weather for a great cause. We appreciate the 30+ Laurel Wealth Planning team members, clients, family, and friends who participated.
The event, typically a 5K, was a virtual family run/walk for the second year. Participants were invited to do any sort of physical activity from April 21 to May 1 and join a virtual celebration on May 1.
NPH supports about 6,000 children in nine countries either in NPH homes or through scholarships and other aid. Proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will support a nutrition project for children with disabilities living at an NPH house in Honduras. The need is great to provide life-long support for children with disabilities throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
The event raised $28,196 — surpassing its fundraising goal of $25,000. LWP’s sponsorship and the participation and donations of our clients and friends was a big part of this total.
Laura and Tom Kuntz have been NPH supporters for more than 25 years. They currently sponsor Cedline Lucien, who arrived at NPH Haiti in 1990 when she was 2 years old. Cedline will likely remain in the care of NPH for the rest of her life. She receives all the medications, therapies, and love she needs to have a great quality of life. She has cerebral palsy and autism and is a happy young woman who enjoys being outside, going for trips, and laughing.
“One of the joys of my life has been working with NPH USA,” Laura said. “We have visited the NPH homes many times, and believe me, they make a HUGE difference for the most vulnerable children.”
