Our Values – Laurel Wealth Planning

For more than two decades, Laurel Wealth Planning has been serving clients based on five core values. Laura Kuntz CPA/PFS, MBT, describes these values and what they mean to the firm, including “client care first,” “going the extra mile” and “win-win teamwork.” 


One of the things that we value so much in serving our clients is knowing that we are serving them well. I like to be able to look in the mirror and like who I see. I like to be proud of how we serve our clients and what we do for our clients.

In an effort to make sure that all of us on our seven person team are serving our clients at a high standard and serving them well, a few years ago we put on paper our values, our standards, in serving our clients.

The first standard is client care first. Client care always comes first in our prioritization, when we hear from a client, when the markets are changing, when the tax law is changing. Client care, which means empathy, listening for the heart of the matter, and always putting our clients’ interests first.

Our second value relates to our Laurel Wreath. It’s the value of honor. For me, that’s the Olympian ideal. The idea that we do the right things for the right reason.

Our third value is being fully reliable. That’s how we build our client’s confidence in who we are and what we do. We have several standards that fall under fully reliable, and that is bringing the right level of experience and accuracy for the job we need to do for our client. It means committing and then delivering, and it means taking things all away.

Our next value is go the extra mile. In going the extra mile we think beyond our role when we think about advising a client, helping a client, the client’s experience, when we think about our processes and our results.

And lastly, our value is win-win teamwork, because our team is the foundation of our service to our clients. By win-win teamwork we mean that we are fully accountable to each other. We are respectfully truthful with each other, and we always seek win-win solutions.

Our business is now more than 20 years old. We have been serving our clients this way for all 20 of those years and I’m very, very proud of that.
